Not to reinvent the wheel, but I’m sure you remember the days of old when getting a RAW file off the sensor meant waiting several minutes to obtain a preview of what you were about to place into an empty hole on the hard drive. I haven’t used Lightroom for years, so I was shocked to see that importing an unprocessed RAW file takes a standard hard drive literally a split second. Wanting to retain my best camera settings before photographing, I had to boot up a separate image viewer, find the image with the best settings, load it into Photoshop, make changes as indicated by the viewpoint, and slowly walk through the process of getting a decent result. Now I instantly get a preview of what I’m about to edit. I then save the edited version, and it takes about a half a second to type the name of the image into the location bar. And even though I have 3800+ images and almost 33 GB of storage, my computer still has almost three gigabytes of free space left. I have full faith that Lightroom can import and apply edits to a RAW file with no slowdowns, though I cannot say the same about rotating images on my phone. On the other hand, my iPhone 3GS complete with iOS 5 now shoots images in RAW at a rate of 10 frames per second. Even without a preview, sorting, and editing on this device is consistently competent. And though the iPhone offers almost nothing in the way of photo editing tools, and the Adobe apps are almost completely absent from the iOS, it’s nice to see that image format is not over-prioritized on the iPhone any more than they are on Windows Phone 7 or Android.

You need editing software that can edit both audio and video. Avid Media Composer and iMovie are two of the options. The offerings of both are exceptionally clear and feature vectors for professional or semi-professional video editing. Avid and iMovie are aimed at professionals, but if you simply want to lay down a basic video, these two are good choices.
