Notification posted to multiple threads

I have a class which is set to post a notification when an event of interest occurs, like this:
public class MyObject {
private static final int NOTIFICATION_ID = 123;

public static void postNotification(Context context, int titleId, String message){
NotificationManager notificationManager = context.getSystemService(Context.NOTIFICATION_SERVICE);
Notification notification = new Notification(titleId, message, System.currentTimeMillis());
notification.setLatestEventInfo(context, titleId, message, null);
notification.flags |= Notification.FLAG_AUTO_CANCEL;
notificationManager.notify(NOTIFICATION_ID, notification);
}
}

If I call MyObject.postNotification from inside a method of one of my objects, the notification is not posted to the Android UI thread. This is expected because the method is in another object.
From the documentation:

A notification will be posted if it can be sent at that time to any
one of the targets (the processes associated with each application’s
user accounts), and if that target is currently running.

What would be the proper way for me to make sure my notification is posted to the UI thread? Would I need to use a Handler? I’d rather not use a Handler since it introduces an extra layer of indirection.

You can use an AsyncTask for this.
So, create an AsyncTask Class
private class myASyncTask extends AsyncTask {

@Override
protected void onPreExecute() {
//show a progress dialog
}

@Override
protected Void doInBackground(Void… params) {
