Lightroom 5’s third-generation catalogue system is another instance where I would have expected Adobe to be a bit more aggressive. The first thing to note about Lightroom 5 is that it’s still a powerful Adobe product. The new UI is perhaps a bit lacking in terms of usability compared to some of the competition, but it’s still quite powerful. You can easily make adjustments to individual parts of the image, from color to exposure and tonal values, all without affecting the entire image. And while it’s true that you can do much the same thing in most RAW converters, some of them lack the total control Lightroom give you, especially when it comes to adjusting tonal values. But as a backup, Lightroom undoubtedly is the best one out there.
Lightroom is an excellent tool for photographers and is the imaging program that Photoshop should be compared to. It is the primary method Adobe has created for processing RAW files and you have the sense of loss if you try to find the same functionality for Photoshop.

This is a great way to experience new features, especially if you are a user who does not usually work with Photoshop or 3D or 2D 3D.
